In commencement of her familiarization tour of the State-owned Tertiary Institutions under her Ministry, the new Honourable Commissioner for Ministry of Tertiary Institution, Science and Technology, Solid Minerals and Energy, Anambra State, Barr. Sally Mbanefo, today, Saturday, 27th June, 2020, paid familiarization visit to Anambra State Polytechnic, Mgbakwu (ANSPOLY), the first Institution to be blessed with her presence. 

Speaking during her first official visit to the Institution the Honourable Commissioner stated that she needed to see things that have happened and is happening in the Polytechnic herself with a view to taking it up from where the past Commissioner stopped and ensuring that the vision and mission of the Executive Governor of Anambra State, Chief (Dr) Willie M. Obiano in creating the Institution is actualized. She expressed satisfaction at the level of development in the Institution and appreciated the willingly working, amiable and proactive Executive Governor of Anambra State, Chief Willie M. Obiano, on his giant developmental strides in the Polytechnic.


The Honourable Commissioner noted that the all round infrastructural development of this Administration are visible and appreciated the Rector and her Team in living up to the mandate given them even as she extolled the Governing Council led by its Chairman, Prof C. P. E. Omaliko on their untiring efforts in the overall progress of the young Polytechnic. Continuing she encouraged the Rector, Management, Staff and Students of the only State-owned Polytechnic to continue living up to expectations in order to sustain the tempo of development and progress already recorded and in place, assuring that she will intimate the Governor on her findings during her visit, pointing out that the Governor has been and is still developing all sectors of the economy simultaneously and is ever ready to deliver on his promises. She extolled the good works of the Governor to the good people of Anambra and to humanity which extended to the proactive measures he took in the fight against the Covid-19 Pandemic and promised that the Governor will continue with all round infrastructure and human development of the baby Institution while improving steadily on the welfare package of the Staff. 
She maintained that His Excellency is interested in making Tertiary Institutions self reliant, as such they should look inwards and fashion out projects that will boost their IGR. She then promised to invite the Chairman, House Committee on Tertiary Education, Honourable Beverly Ikpeazu-Nkemdiche, to the flag off  the ANSPOLY IGR projects scheduled for Wednesday, 1st July, 2020 at the Polytechnic. The Honourable Commissioner said that a lot of innovations will be introduced in the area of Education. Most importantly is the E-LIBRARY which will give students access to millions of books relevant to all fields of study. She pointed out that the e-library for the schools is to ensure e-learning is imbibed in the schools and that the two ministries of basic education and her Ministry will partner on the project.

Speaking earlier, the Rector, Dr. Nneka C. Mefoh, welcomed the Honourable Commissioner and assured her the ever ready support of the Polytechnic Community to achieve, maintain and sustain her mandate. She stated that the Governor has not relented in seeing that the Polytechnic becomes the Center of Excellence in education and all round human capital development. Contributing, all the members of the Principal Officers and the PRO thanked the HC for her visit and promised to give her maximum support.
The highpoints of the tour included visits to places like the Polytechnic laboratories, ATC area/buildings, Greenhouse, the Poly farms, analogue and digital libraries, computer Lab and ICT Center, Hostels, Modern Processing Center and the Admin. Building/Offices. The constructed internal road network in the Poly was also cited among other things.

Accompanying the Honourable Commissioner were the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Tertiary Education, Science and Technology, Solid Minerals and Energy, Barr. Pauline Nwandu and other Senior Staff in the Ministry, while on ground to join the Rector in welcoming the HC were the Principal Officers among who were the Deputy Rector, Dr. Njideka Chiekezie, the Registrar, Dr. Samuel U. Nnana Esq., the Ag. Librarian, Ogalue, Ifesinachi and the Ag. Bursar, Dim, Kingsley, the Principal Functionaries among who were the Dean, Students Affairs, Ejikeme, Chinedu, the Dean, School of Agriculture and Related Disciplines, Dr Anthony Okafor, Dean, School of Engineering Technology, Engr Mezi, Cajetan, Dean, School of Management Sciences, Dr. Emmanuel Okechukwu, HOD, Fisheries Technology Department, Dr. Egwim, Estate Manager, Engr Emeka Michael, Internal Auditor, Emmanuel Modozie and the Polytechnic PRO, Okagbue, Chukwuanu Sunday, Anipr.
